Hillcats Fall to OBU, 4-1

CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State men's soccer team dropped its first Sooner Athletic Conference match of the season, falling to Oklahoma Baptist 4-1 on Saturday evening at Soldier Field.

The Bison got on the scoreboard first with a goal by Tito Silva in the 36th minute of play. Silva broke through the defense and chipped a shot over RSU goalkeeper Sean Surridge as he closed in on Silva inside the penalty box.

OBU took the 1-0 advantage into intermission. The Bison blasted four shots on goal in the opening period while the Hillcats were only allowed one shot.

Silva struck again just after halftime, firing a shot from the left side of the box into the net.

Senior Sergio Guerra cut OBU?s lead in half in the 52nd minute, scoring from the top of the box. It was his fifth goal of the season.

The Bison added two insurance goals, the first by Taylor Thompson in the 70th minute and the second came from Victor Costa in the 86th minute.

OBU out-shot the Hillcats 11-5. Surridge suffers the loss in goal, making four saves.

The Hillcats (9-2-1, 3-1 SAC) are back in action on Tues., Oct. 12 as the take on St. Gregory's at Soldier Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
