CLAREMORE, Okla. - Three second half goals propelled the Rogers State women's soccer team past Lubbock Christian on Thursday afternoon at Soldier Field.
Sophomore Jessica Tuner put the Hillcats on the board 17 seconds into the second half. Chelsea Myer dribbled down the line and crossed the ball into the box for Turner who buried it past Lady Chaps goalkeeper, Lacy Burress.
In the 78th minute Burress made a diving save after RSU freshman Demi Mullin fired a shot from just inside the box, setting up a corner kick for the Hillcats. Shereen Clarke sent the corner kick into the box for freshman Melissa Subu who headed the ball into the net, giving the Hillcats a 2-0 lead.
Turner struck again in the 89th minute, dribbling down the sideline past the LCU defense, slotting the ball past the Lady Chaps goalkeeper to seal the 3-0 victory.
The shut out win is the fifth for RSU freshman goalkeeper Chelsea McMullin who made four saves.
The Hillcats out-shot LCU 14-10, putting 10 shots on frame compared to the Lady Chaps who only put four shots on target.
The Hillcats (8-4-1, 4-2-1) are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 23 as they travel to the University of Science and Arts. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
