CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State earned a landmark victory with a decisive, 64-54 win over No. 15 Southern Nazarene Saturday night at the Claremore Expo.

The Hillcats led the entire second half to notch their second win over a ranked opponent in three years. Senior Jenny Hardin scored a game-high 22 points while Hunter Peterson added 14 with four 3-pointers.

"Tonight was just a great all around team effort," Head Coach Amy Williams said. "This was a huge win for us and I'm so proud of my team."

The Cats fell into an early hole and trailed by 10 at the midway point of the first half. RSU responded with a 12-0 run and took the lead on back-to-back buckets by Hardin. The Claremore product nailed a three with less than two minutes to play in the half and the Hillcats went to the locker room with a 35-33 advantage.

Peterson opened the second half scoring with a pair of 3-point baskets and the lead quickly swelled to double digits. SNU eventually cut the margin to four with a 10-1 run, but could get no closer. Yoda Woods made it a six point game with a strong post move at the 2:10 mark and Hardin followed suit on the next possession to put the game away. Peterson iced the victory with two free throws in the closing seconds.

The Crimson Storm shot 52 percent from the field in the first half, but was held to 29 percent shooting in the second stanza. RSU forced 27 SNU turnovers with 16 steals overall. Lana Keith led the Storm with 16 points while Claremore native Audra Skimbo tallied 10 points in her return to Rogers County.

The Hillcats shot 38 percent from the floor and connected on eight of 20 shots from behind the arc. Woods stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, six boards and three steals.

Rogers State (7-1, 1-1) evened its conference record and will look to avenge its only loss of the season when John Brown visits the Claremore Expo Thursday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game will be carried live on RSU Public Television and RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
