No. 3 Stars Streak Past Rogers State Women, 90-41

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Third ranked Oklahoma City handed Rogers State its second straight loss with a decisive 90-41 victory Thursday night at Abe Lemons Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The Stars exploded for a 19-1 run on a flurry of 3-point baskets early in the first half. Chelsea Ledbetter buried three treys during the run as OCU jumped out to a 26 point lead at the half.  The Hillcats were held to just seven first half field goals and were unable to slow the Stars hot shooting.

OCU opened the second half on a 7-0 run and continued to attack with its defense. The Stars scored 30 points off 21 RSU turnovers to close out a 49-point victory. It marked the largest margin of defeat in the two-year history of RSU women's basketball.

Sophomore Katie Rice led the Cats with 13 points while Azzie Knox added 10 points and eight rebounds. Erika Ferrell topped four OCU players in double figures with 17 points. Holly Hardin scored 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting while Chelsea Ledbetter and Breezy Martin added 14 and 10, respectively.

The Stars shot 54 percent from the floor for the night and held The Hillcats to just 27 percent. OCU got 35 points from its bench compared to just 13 for RSU.

Rogers State (11-6, 5-4) has dropped two straight road games against ranked opponents since reeling off seven consecutive victories. The Hillcats remain in fifth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings following the loss. RSU will return home Saturday afternoon to face Mid-America Christian at the Claremore Expo. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the game will be carried live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
