Stars Continue Hillcats Slide, 7-1

CLAREMORE, Okla. - Third-ranked Oklahoma City scored six runs over the first two innings en route to a 7-1 win over No. 11 Rogers State at the Hillcat Complex Tuesday.
 

Erin Slettvet tripled home Kasey Hobens in the top of the first inning and Mindy Crabaugh followed with a two RBI single. Melody Murphy cranked a two-homer in the second inning, giving OCU a 5-0 lead and chasing Hillcat starter Kelli Dunagan from the game. The Stars picked up another run in the second off reliver Jenny Johnson and one more in the fourth to reach the final margin, 7-1.
 

The Hillcats lone run came off the bat of senior Chasidy Austin. Austin belted her first home run of the season over the left field wall to lead off the bottom of the third. Dungan accounted for two of the Cats four hits in the contest. Murphy led the Stars with three hits and two RBI.
 

Jenni Gaby earned the victory for OCU with a complete game performance. She allowed one run on four hits while striking out five. Dunagan (26-14) was touched for five runs on five hits in just one inning of work.
 

Rogers State (40-15, 14-12) closed out the regular season on a seven-game losing streak. The Hillcats finished in a tie with Northwestern Oklahoma State for fourth place in the conference standings. RSU will play in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament beginning Friday at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. Opponents and game times will be announced Wednesday.
