Lady Chaps Drain RSU Women, 63-45

CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State held No. 14 Lubbock Christian to a season-low 14 points in the first half but had no answer for the Lady Chaps 10 second half 3-pointers as the Hillcats fell 63-45 at the Claremore Expo Saturday afternoon.

Despite the great defensive start, the Hillcats had some scoring issues of their own in the first half. RSU led 16-8 with 2:22 remaining before LCU rattled off six straight points to close the lead to two at the break. The two teams combined to shoot 11-of-54 (20-percent) in the first period.

LCU, the pre-season favorite to win the Sooner Athletic Conference championship, came out firing in the second frame. Five Lady Chaps combined to drill 10-of-12 shots from beyond the arc as LCU quickly built a comfortable second half lead. Jordan Hampton led the scoring barrage with 16 second half points on 4-of-5 shooting from outside. Sierra Wilcox-Lovorn added 14 points for LCU who improved to 11-2, 4-1 in conference play.

Yoda Woods tallied her first double-double of the season for RSU with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Azzie Knox continued to find her stride as she contributed 10 points and four rebounds in her third game of the season.

Rogers State (7-6, 3-2) had its two-game winning streak snapped with the loss. The Hillcats will hit the road next week for conference games at Southern Nazarene and USAO. The Cats and Crimson Storm will play Thursday night with tip-off slated for 6 p.m. The game will be carried live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
