CHICKASHA, Okla. - Rogers State mounted a furious second half run but it wasn't enough to overcome a 13-point halftime deficit as the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma held on for a 70-60 win in Chickasha Saturday night.
Â
The Drovers led 37-24 at the half after Tim Nelson put on a shooting clinic. The junior drained four 3-pointers in the first half as USAO jumped out to an early lead. Nelson and Thomas Woods scored 24 points apiece to lead the Drovers to just their second conference win of the season.
Â
RSU picked up its intensity on defense and worked the ball inside on the offensive end to cut the Drover lead to two with under four minutes to play. However, the Hillcats ultimately couldn't overcome their shooting woes. RSU shot just 33-percent from the field, its second lowest shooting percentage of the season. USAO couldn't miss, posting a season-high 54-percent shooting clip.
Â
Sophomore Sylvester Spicer led the Hillcats with 14 points and 11 rebounds. He hit 8-of-10 free throws but went 3-of-13 from the floor. Bryson Krueger and Roderick Rodgers each posted 13 points. No other RSU player scored more than seven.

Rogers State (8-5, 3-4) lost consecutive games for the first time this season and will look to stop the streak this week at home. The Hillcats host Oklahoma Christian Thursday and Northwestern Oklahoma State Saturday at the Claremore Expo. Both games are scheduled for 8 p.m. and will be aired live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM and RSU Public Television.
