SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - Rogers State fell behind 3-0 in the first half and couldn't recover, falling 4-2 to John Brown in Sooner Athletic Conference action at Alumni Field in Siloam Springs, Ark. on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles dominated the early going as the Hillcats managed just one shot in the first half. Alex McMichael found the back of the net twice and Sarah Kidd added a goal to give John Brown a three-goal advantage at the half.
RSU senior Robin Sutherland put the Cats on the scoreboard on a penalty kick two minutes into the second half. Freshman Amanda Burger made it 3-2 just two minutes later and RSU appeared en route to a second half comeback. However, Camille Malkiewicz cushioned the JBU lead in the 15th minute of the second half with the last goal of the match and the Golden Eagles held on for a 4-2 victory.
It was the first loss of the season for the Hillcats who fell to 3-1-0, 1-1-0 in conference play. JBU improved to 3-3-0, 1-0-0 in conference play.
The Hillcats return home on Tuesday to face St. Gregory's at Soldier Field. The match is slated to start at 2 p.m.
