OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Add another chapter to Robin Sutherland's storybook season at Rogers State. On the day she was named conference newcomer and offensive player of the year, the senior captain willed RSU to a 1-0 victory over Oklahoma City and into the Region VI Tournament finals.
Â
Sutherland booted the ball into the net after it was mishandled by OCU goalkeeper Brittany Tibbs 30:19 into the match. The goal was the 44th of the season for Sutherland, moving her into sole possession of sixth place on the NAIA single season scoring charts. RSU keeper Bailey Lynn turned in a shutout performance in the biggest match of the season with eight saves. The Stars outshot the Hillcats 28-to-12 but came up empty time and again.
Â
Rogers State (20-2) moved to within one victory of a national tournament berth with the win. The Hillcats will face Southern Nazarene in the regional finals Tuesday afternoon at Stars Field in Oklahoma City. The match is slated for 4 p.m.
