Hillcat Women Route Rhema in Exhibition, 101-29

CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State scored the opening bucket and never looked back in a runaway 101-29 exhibition victory over Rhema Bible College at the Claremore Expo on Monday.
 

The Hillcats came out firing in their first ever competition as freshman Katie Rice went to the rack off the opening tip and the Hillcats took control from the start. Rice and fellow freshman Hunter Peterson combined for 22 first half points as RSU enjoyed a 51-14 advantage at the break. RSU forced 26 first half turnovers while committing just eight.
 

Coach Amy Williams' club cruised through the second half. All 14 players who saw action scored at least one bucket. Peterson led the way with 18, followed by Rice with 16. Bailey Woods was the only other Hillcat in double figures with 10. RSU swiped 24 steals and forced an astounding 45 turnovers for the game. The Hillcats shot 58-percent from the floor while holding the Lady Eagles to 25-percent. Rice and Peterson were both 7-of-9 from the floor.
 

Rogers State cracked the century mark in the final minute must to the delight of the opening night crowd. The Hillcats will open regular season play on Thursday vs. Oklahoma Wesleyan at 6 p.m. The game can be heard live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
