CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State put on a spectacular offensive show in its home debut as the Hillcats blasted Rhema Bible College 102-38 in exhibition play at the Claremore Expo on Monday.
Â
Six Hillcats reached double figures led by Roderick Rodgers who posted a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. The Eagles hung with RSU through the first five minutes before RSU went on the first of many scoring rallies. Abram Donlon capped an early 8-1 run with a nice post move inside to make it 20-11 at the midway point of the first half.
Â
Back-to-back threes by Eric Young highlighted another 14-0 run as RSU built a comfortable 41-17 lead at the half. Gabe White kept Rhema for a while by shooting 4-of-7 from the floor and racking up 11 first half points.
Â
However, just as they did Saturday night against Oral Roberts, the Hillcats really turned up the offense in the second half. RSU poured in 12 threes in the second frame, led by freshman Chris Francis and senior Bryson Krueger. Francis went 4-of-5 from beyond the arc in the second half alone. Krueger was also 4-of-5 from long range and finished with 17 points. The hot shooting keyed a 24-0 run that spanned more than eight minutes. Alric Reynolds led all players with seven assist and also picked up three steals.
Â
RSU scored 61 second half points to break the 100 point barrier. The Hillcats will open regular season play on Thursday vs. Tabor College at the Claremore Expo. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. and the game can be heard live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
