RSU Men Knock Off No. 12 Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Rogers State pulled off the biggest upset of the season with a 2-1 win over No. 12 Oklahoma City at Stars Field on Saturday.

Freshman Des Fitzgerald scored the game-winning-goal on an assist from Jaime Perez to give the Hillcats the victory and keep hope alive for a conference championship.

Freshman Salim Nelson put the Cats in front late in the first half. OCU responded with a goal by Matt Williams two-minutes later and the teams were knotted 1-1 at the half. RSU goal keeper Sean Surridge kept the Stars out of the net the rest of the way with seven saves.

"This was a huge win for our program," RSU Head Coach Derek Larkin said after the match. "I'm so proud of our guys and the way they fought tonight."

The Hillcats (10-3-2, 5-1-1) are now in sole possession of second place in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings and trail Southern Nazarene by half a game with one game remaining. RSU was picked to finish last in the conference in the SAC Coaches Pre-Season Poll.
