OKLAHOMA CITY – The Rogers State men's soccer team tallied three goals over Oklahoma Christian to earn the Hillcats third Heartland Conference victory of the season with a 3-1 win Saturday evening at Eagle Soccer Field.
RSU tallied the first goal of the match on a Niall Masterson goal in the eighth minute of action. A Dylan Beaird cross found the junior midfielder Masterson who struck the ball of the crossbar and into the goal for the 1-0 advantage for his third of the season.
After the Hillcats held the lead 1-0 at intermission, Garron Hayes found the back of the net for the third time this season with a header off a Kevin Howard cross in the 51st minute of play to claim what would be the game winning goal.
In the 64th minute Necas Collins' cross found the head of Mathew Levenson putting RSU up3-0. OC was able to score in the 76th minute but the Hillcats held off an Eagle rally for the 3-1 victory.
Mitchell Penton (1-4-0) tallied three saves in the RSU victory as Evan Helker suffered his seventh loss of the year for OC. The Eagles (3-9-1) outshot the Hillcats 18-10 on the evening.
Rogers State (5-8-1, 3-4-0) will face Dallas Baptist University in Heartland Conference action Monday on the road.
