CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State received an outstanding offensive performance from Vitor Mantovani and earned an important conference win over Oklahoma Baptist at Soldier Field on Thursday.
Mantovani recorded the first hat trick of the season for the RSU men in a 4-1 victory. The sophomore from Sao Paulo, Brazil came off the bench to score the first goal of the match on a free kick late in the first half. He made it a 2-0 advantage for the Hillcats just five minutes into the second half.
OBU's Taizo Kasuya cut the lead in half on the only Bison goal of the match with 27:52 left to play. However, Mantovani responded with his third goal with 23:10 remaining. Freshman Bryce Taylor added the final goal of the match on an assist from Salim Nelson to reach the final margin, 4-1.
The Hillcats improved to 9-3-2, 4-1-1 in conference play with the win. Oklahoma Baptist fell to 6-6-1, 2-2 in SAC play. Rogers State travels to Oklahoma City for a showdown with the OCU Stars on Saturday. The match is slated for 8 p.m.
